Effective from October 5, 2023, IndiGo Airlines, one of India’s leading carriers, has revealed plans to launch a daily direct air connection between Delhi and Belagavi.
This strategic move aims to invigorate domestic travel by reinforcing point-to-point connectivity and enhancing accessibility between the northern and southern regions of India.
Belagavi Airport, situated in the northern part of Karnataka, holds historical significance as the region’s oldest airport. With the commencement of the direct air link, the airport is poised to assume a vital role in augmenting regional connectivity, accommodating both business and leisure travelers.
The launch of these flights is anticipated to be especially advantageous for travelers seeking novel destinations, a prospect that aligns well with the upcoming festive season. Furthermore, the proximity of Belagavi to Hubballi, a prominent town in Karnataka celebrated for its grand Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, presents an enticing opportunity for those looking to explore cultural festivities.
IndiGo’s Head of Global Sales, Vinay Malhotra, stated, “We are pleased to announce new direct flights between Belagavi and Delhi, providing a seamless connection between the two cities. Located in Karnataka, Belagavi, also known as Belgaum, reflects a medley of cultures and traditions with an enviable heritage, attracting tourists throughout the year.
“We continue to deliver on our promise of providing affordable, on-time, courteous, and hassle-free travel experiences across an extensive network for our valued customers,” he added.
Nestled at the base of the Western Ghats in northern Karnataka, Belagavi seamlessly blends modern British Cantonment aesthetics with historic town elements, thriving with artisans in cotton and silk weaving.
The city’s historical tapestry is woven with ancient forts, churches, and monuments, providing a captivating backdrop for both religious and cultural exploration.
Belagavi’s picturesque setting against the Sahyadri mountain range, adorned with rivers, waterfalls, diverse landscapes, lush forests, and an array of temples, adds to its allure.
The air route’s establishment between the capital and Belagavi is poised to provide a substantial boost to regional connectivity, thereby reinforcing India’s domestic air travel network.
