J&K announces initiatives to develop Budgam as next big tourism destination

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, in a dedicated effort to position Budgam District as a prominent tourism hub within the picturesque region of Kashmir, inaugurated an array of significant developmental projects on August 24.

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha laid the foundation stones for an assortment of projects aimed at propelling Budgam’s progress. With a total estimated value of INR 41 crore, these projects encompass a diverse range of enhancements across various sectors.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the unveiling of several projects by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha. These include the creation of public and children’s parks encircling the revered Charar-e-Sharief Shrine. Notably, the beautification and renovation of the Bairam Hill Cave in Beerwah, Budgam, was also unveiled, in a bid to preserve historical heritage while offering a welcoming atmosphere to visitors. The newly revamped Jogger’s Park at MC Chadoora promises to provide a recreational space for residents and tourists alike.

The unveiled projects were accompanied by the laying of foundation stones for transformative initiatives. The construction of transit accommodation at Kakanmaran, Budgam, aims to facilitate seamless travel experiences for visitors. A state-of-the-art bus adda in Chadoora will not only improve transportation facilities but also contribute to the overall modernization of the district. The modernization of the DC Office Complex is set to streamline administrative processes, while the establishment of 19 Panchayat Ghars across Budgam highlights the emphasis on grassroots governance and community involvement.

Lt Governor Sinha expressed his optimism that this initiative will not only drive economic growth but also reinforce the ecological balance of the area and enhance the overall quality of life for its residents. He praised the vibrancy and determination exhibited by the district in pursuing these transformative endeavors.

In a noteworthy statement, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha asserted, “I am hopeful that planned infrastructure development projects and amenities for sustainable living by Budgam District Administration will create healthy competition amongst cities of Jammu Kashmir and encourage public and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to improve infrastructure and make urban spaces beautiful and inclusive.”

Highlighting the administration’s commitment to the region’s comprehensive growth, Lt Governor Sinha underscored the sensitivity of the UT Administration to the developmental needs of the people. He emphasized that every conceivable effort is being made to ensure inclusive and sustainable development across Jammu Kashmir.

Commending the District Administration’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage, Lt Governor Sinha lauded the initiatives taken to honor Acharya Abhinav Gupt Ji by creating infrastructure, facilities, and beautification works of the Bairam Cave at Beerwah.

Lt. Governor Sinha also said that the multi-dimensional approach will help develop Beerwah as a major tourist destination.
