During his address at a Rozgar Mela this week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the profound impact that the tourism sector is poised to have on India’s economy and the consequential surge in employment opportunities it will usher in.
Speaking about the potential of the tourism industry, Prime Minister Modi projected that by 2030, its contribution to the Indian economy could surpass a staggering INR 20 lakh crore.
He further elucidated that this sector’s burgeoning growth has the potential to create employment avenues for a remarkable 13 to 14 crore individuals. He emphasized, “This development will have an impact on the lives of every citizen of India.”
The Prime Minister’s remarks also highlighted the transformative nature of India’s economic progress. He asserted that the nation’s growth narrative transcends mere numerical indicators and instead revolves around the positive transformation it promises to deliver to the lives of all its citizens. The anticipated surge in the tourism sector, along with its associated employment opportunities, is intrinsically linked to an enhanced quality of life and increased income levels.
The ongoing rapid expansion of India’s infrastructure was another key focal point of Prime Minister Modi’s address. He emphasized that robust infrastructure development, which has witnessed over INR 30 lakh crore in investments by the central government over the past nine years, is catalyzing connectivity and providing fertile ground for the growth of tourism and hospitality sectors. “This is expanding connectivity across the country; it has given rise to new possibilities in the tourism and hospitality sectors,” the Prime Minister affirmed.
Apart from the tourism sector, Prime Minister Modi also highlighted the potential growth trajectories of industries such as automobiles, pharmaceuticals, and food processing. These sectors, he noted, are poised to present swift employment prospects for the youth, thus contributing significantly to the overall employment landscape.
The address took place against the backdrop of a Rozgar Mela, during which Prime Minister Modi virtually distributed over 51,000 appointment letters to young individuals.
He further emphasized that the Indian economy was swiftly advancing, paving the way for significant chances for youth employment.
Prime Minister Modi concluded his address with an optimistic vision for India’s economic trajectory. Cognizant of India’s reputation as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, he reaffirmed the nation’s aspiration to secure a position among the top three global economies in the coming decade. “For any economy to move forward, it is necessary for every sector of the country to develop,” the Prime Minister asserted.
