pre-arrival registration to Indians visiting Hong Kong

The Consulate General of India in Hong Kong issued an advisory for pre-arrival registration to Indians visiting Hong Kong who are planning to visit the region for a period of less than fourteen days. Now, Indians need to apply for online pre-arrival registration as a successful PAR is valid for about a period of six months and for many visits. The Indian Mission alleged, “Indian nationals planning to visit the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) for a stay not exceeding 14 days are required to apply for online Pre-Arrival Registration (PAR).”

Also the details in the PAR must match those that are in the passport. Visitors should also need to carry a printout of successful PAR on A4 Size paper, and along with this, they must have many other important documents and details with them along with PAR :

  • Passport validity of at least six months.
  • Confirmed return or onward tickets
  • Confirmed hotel bookings
  • Proof of bona fide purpose of visit
  • Proof of sufficient financial provisions

The Consulate General also underlined that holding PAR is not a guarantee of the registrant’s successful entry into Hong Kong, and the above-mentioned requirements are also mandatory to get eligible. The statement issued said, “Please note that holding a valid PAR is not a guarantee of the registrant’s successful entry to the HKSAR. Instances have come to our notice when not following the above requirements have resulted in Hong Kong Immigration refusing permission to land. This entails such persons returning back to port of embarkation from India by the same airline as well as certain hardships at the airport waiting for repatriation,”. It also added that “The Consulate General of India, therefore, urges Indian nationals visiting Hong Kong to follow Government of HKSAR’s regulations in this regard, to minimize the possibility of any inconvenience to themselves.”

The Hong Kong immigration Department statement specifies that Indian nationals must complete PAR online before their visit as it is mandatory. This is an online registration that is needed for Indian travelers visiting Hong Kong, and it is also advised to fulfill all these requirements in advance before heading to the destination; Vistara also issued a notification. Vistara is a prominent Indian airline that has shared its important guidelines for passengers, and this new requirement aims to ensure the smooth entry of Indian passengers into Hong Kong. According to Vistara, PAR must be presented at the airline’s check-in counter, and it is mandatory for passengers to have details on the A4 size sheet perfectly to match their passports. Also, failure to this notification may lead to denied travel.

Vistara notification also advises travelers to visit the Hong Kong government immigration department for additional details and guidelines on the registration procedure. The airline also underlines the importance of this new requirement and advises visitors to adhere to it for hassle-free travel.
